First Aid
First Aid is the immediate care provided to a person who is injured or suddenly becomes ill, before professional medical help is available. In Australia, First Aid training equips individuals with the knowledge and practical skills to respond to a wide range of emergency situations, including bleeding, burns, fractures, asthma attacks, anaphylaxis, cardiac arrest, and more.
AHPRA-recognised first aid training supports safe practice in both clinical and community settings. It ensures that health practitioners and those working with vulnerable populations meet national health and safety guidelines, enhance their duty of care, and comply with relevant professional codes and standards.
Courses typically include:
-
DRSABCD action plan (Danger, Response, Send for help, Airway, Breathing, CPR, Defibrillation)
-
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
-
Managing medical emergencies such as shock, seizures, diabetes, asthma, and anaphylaxis
-
Wound care, fractures, sprains, and head injuries
